WHAT'S COMMON IN BOTH THE ARTICLES? 

 It's that they are a classic example of how media manipulates news, highlighting aspects of a case that didn't even exist, in order to make it more appealing.
Was the communal angle necessary to explore? NO.
Did the news source add it anyway? YES.
IT DILUTES THE IMPORTANT PARTS OF A NEWS DOWN TO NITTY GRITTY DETAILS THAT RELATIVELY, don't matter as much as the atrocity itself.
The actual atrocity in this case was a woman being raped, and a girl being bitten by a snake. Would the snake have left the girl if she wasn't dalit? NO. caste and religion were a non-related matter, added only as ornaments to attract an audience.

Mainstream media usually only covers what captures more eyeballs, regardless of what it conveys;
please don't fall for it.
